Any new halls?

when i joined the org.

in 1988, every once in a while new halls were being built here and there.

i couldn't pass a month without hearing that a new hall was being built.

Pretty busy in my area building and remodeling, been quite a few new congregations formed. Most halls have four or even five congregations meeting.

Whatever We Say, Just Listen & Don't Question

in nearly every publication lately, the overpowering message to the faithful is to just listen to god's organization.

when circuit overseers give their talks, the theme is just listen to what we say.

every study article contains the same not so subtle message : you better listen because if you don't you're weak or complaining or worse yet, an apostate.the mind control is so obvious!

My observation lately has been that fewer and fewer people are paying much attention to that kind of stuff. They kind of nod, then get on with whatever they were doing before. The constant drum beating looses its impact after a while.

it happened to me before i was ever baptized, and continued on after i was baptized.

it ended when i confronted him and took it to the elders.

i didn't get anywhere with that so, i moved to a different congregation.

JW Voters: Post Election-Day Fallout?

if i recall, a wt question from readers a year or two ago suggested that voting was a ``matter of consicience.

" i have also heard that this was pubished only ``for public consumption,"" and that the verbal ``network'' emanating from the governing body and proceeding down the pipeline via the district and circuit overseers to the locals was that they should get the word out that nothing had really changed and that voting was actionable by a judicial committee.

so... my questions are: is this all accurate?

Since the QFR I know of one case where the Elders became aware of an invdividual voting. They contacted Brooklyn and were told to leave the individual alone, just not give them any privileges. I believe there was a threat of a law suit if any judicial action was taken.

The Organizaiton wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. They're very careful to warn Witnesses in business against any kind of religious discrimination if the subject is ever broached with them.
